Tennis - Between Point Routines
1-Recovery:
After a winner or forcing a mistake the message to yourself should be a positive anchor such as ‘yes’ or ‘that’s it’.
Following a mistake the message should be ‘let it go’.
When the point is finished you must release anger, negative energy or self-doubt.
2-Relaxation:
Relax by turning towards the back fence, switching racket to the non dominant hand (racquet head up), inhaling deeply, pulling the shoulders back and swinging arms freely to release physical tension.
Your goal is to come to the baseline for the next point physically relaxed, emotionally positive, and mentally focused on your objective for the next point.
3-Preparation:
Involves thinking: what the score is, what you have to do to win the next point, visualizing it in your mind, and going through your serve or return routines.
Be proactive !!
